NAHB Names Jim Chapman “55+ Builder of the Year”

The 55+ Housing Industry Council of the National Association of Home Builders ( has named Vinings-based homebuilder Jim Chapman "55+ Builder of the Year" and honored his company, Jim Chapman Communities, with three Gold and Silver Awards at its annual 55+ Housing Awards Ceremony Jan. 9, 2018. The Best of 55+ Housing Awards are the industry’s only national awards program honoring excellence in building design, marketing and lifestyles in housing for the mature adult. The awards serve as a showcase for quality housing, innovation and emerging trends that appeal to the 55 and above demographic. The awards were presented at the International Builders Show in Orlando, Florida.

The premier 55+ home builder in metro Atlanta, Jim Chapman has been nationally recognized as a leading expert in the 55+ housing market for some time. He is currently building communities throughout the greater metro Atlanta area and is greatly influenced by his design partner, mentor and father, Jim Chapman, Sr., a well-known Atlanta architect. Chapman founded Jim Chapman Communities to specialize in building homes and communities for 55+ active adults. He is the past Chair of NAHB’s 55+ Housing Industry Council and is the incoming president of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA) for 2018.
